Changes to Thursday, February 14, 2019 Barge Arrivals for the Hilo and Kahului Ports

We were informed by Young Brothers, Hawaii’s interisland transportation company, there are changes in the Thursday, February 14, 2019 barge arrivals for Hilo and Kahului ports. This is due to large northwest swells and high winds causing unsafe conditions which prevented safe entry into these ports.

Please find Young Brother’s barge details below.

Hilo Port

The barge Ha‘aheo, originally scheduled to arrive in Hilo Thursday, will wait out current storm
conditions at the Port of Kawaihae. No cargo will be discharged at the Port of Kawaihae.

Maui Port

The barge KRS 286-6, originally scheduled to arrive in Kahului Thursday, has returned back to
Honolulu due to continued unsafe conditions at the Port of Kahului. The Thursday scheduled sailing to
Kahului will sail as scheduled for a Friday, February 15, 2019, arrival subject to weather
conditions. Please be aware that current weather conditions are not forecasted to improve, so
Friday, February 15th’s barge arrival into Kahului may be affected as well.

Recovery plans for all sailings are currently under review.

Please check with your local DHX – Dependable Hawaiian Express office for further information with respect to these delays. Once the freight arrives safely on the islands our trucking operations will do everything in their power to expedite the handling of your shipments to minimize any further delay.
