As many of you may be aware, Pasha Hawaii (Pasha) has faced many difficulties in integrating Horizon Lines Hawaii services into Pasha's operating  structure. As a result, Matson Navigation Company (Matson) has tried to help ease the bottlenecks that have developed in the Shipping to Hawaii trade by adding both additional vessels and additional chassis into their service mix in order to ease their volume increases as Pasha adapts. These new vessels have caused delays in sailings as deployment of the added vessels/capacity takes time and may back up a vessel sailing when inserting the new sailings into existing schedules.

The following Matson sailing schedule announcement is provided for your information: 

Subject:  Hawaii and Guam Schedule Update Through August 8

Please be advised that we have updated our schedule for vessels arriving in Hawaii through August 8, 2015.  The vessels Kauai V736W and Manukai V159W were late departing the West Coast; Kauai will arrive in Honolulu Sunday afternoon and Manukai will arrive Sunday evening. Once again, we are adding an 11th vessel, to improve our fleet’s on-time performance. The reserve vessel, Consumer (MCN V-400W), will depart Seattle on Wednesday, July 29 and sail directly to Honolulu. Manoa V324W will depart Oakland on Tuesday, July 28 and sail directly to Honolulu. Maui 044W is being activated to replace Kauai while it undergoes required maintenance. 

We have implemented a number of initiatives to improve cargo availability.  We have increased our chassis inventory in Honolulu by 170 units and an additional 130 units will be repositioned in the next few weeks. We also have expanded Honolulu gate hours, opening all day Sunday, from 0700 to 1545 and Wednesday evenings (please check with your local representative for details). We will continue to look for opportunities to increase our throughput at our Honolulu terminal in order to meet customer expectations.
