Wharfage Increase
In a continuing effort to fund a long-term harbor
improvement program, Hawaii's Department of
Transportation Harbors Division has announced a wharfage
increase effective July 1, 2015. Matson Navigation
Company recently indicated they will pass the increase on to the
shipping community effective with sailings on or after July 5, 2015.
The increase will be
applied by island and equipment size. As examples, Hawaii wharfage
fees for a 40' (foot) container shipping from U.S. Mainland to Honolulu,
Oahu will increase from $168.84 to $173.91 and a 40' container shipping from
U.S. Mainland to any Neighbor Island will increase from the current $356.44 to
$367.13. The Less-than-Container load wharfage we charge will increase
by a similar percentage, amounting to 1 cent ($0.01) per cubic foot.
